Any musician - beginners and professionals alike - are probably familiar with the clear, bright tones of a Taylor guitar.
Although Taylors aren’t as well established as other brands (the company was established in 1974), they’ve seen a huge growth in popularity - especially over the last ten years. It’s not surprising. With their clear, rich tones, they’ve been a common choice for contemporary musicians operating in all genres.
But what makes the Taylor guitar different from others? There are plenty of factors to consider when choosing an instrument - what makes a Taylor right for you and your event?
Bracing
For generations, X-bracing was the most common construction for guitars. However, this particular style of bracing made it difficult to hold a sustain and volume at the same time. The builders at Taylor weren’t willing to accept that this was the only way to build a guitar, so they invented V-bracing - a style that allowed for a musician to hold sustain and volume simultaneously; and it also improves the guitar’s tonal quality. The V-bracing is a big component of those rich tones that Taylors are known for producing.
Flexibility
Taylor Guitars allow for a variety of different playing styles, for a few different reasons. Unlike other guitars, Taylors have an adjustable neck which allows the musician to tailor (no pun intended) the guitar’s action so it’s exactly right for them.
Build
Taylor has perfected the art of building a well-made guitar, and then perfecting the reproduction of that guitar. Each instrument has its custom features; but overall, the construction is the same every time. This allows for a seamless transition from one instrument to the other - which is useful for someone looking for consistency in their music.
